OPERATING PROCEDURES
2-1. Controls and Instruments
a. General. This section describes the various
controls and instruments and provides the operator
with sufficient information to ensure proper oper-
ation of the generator set. All controls and instru-
ments are identical on both the Model MEP-017A
and the Model MEP-022A generator sets, with the
single exception of the frequency meters. Although
both of these are similar in the external appearance
and are mounted in the same location, they are cali-
brated differently. The two frequency meters are
covered separately within the controls and instru-
ments paragraph.
b. Controls and Instruments. The generator
controls and instruments and their normal reading
are illustrated in figures 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5 and 2-
6. Refer to table 2-1 for the model applicability and
use of the various controls and instruments re-
quired for proper operation of the generator set.
(1) Fuel Selector Valve. The fuel selector
valve (fig. 2-1) is a four-position rotary-type valve
located at the right side immediately behind the
engine.
