Serial Numbers.

The serial number on the generator set
(MEP-023A) is comprised of four basic alpha numeric
characters to which is appended a numeric series
corresponding in quantity to the number of sets
furnished.
(a) The first alpha character specifies
manufacturer: B - Bogue Electric; E - Onan Division of
Studebaker Corp.
(b) The second alpha character
denotes Hertz or direct current: B - 400 Hertz.
(c) The third and fourth characters
(numeric) represent the year of initial delivery.
(d) The fifth, sixth, seventh, and
eighth characters represent the unit number sequence of
sets manufactured.
