However,maintenance-free batteries cannot bemixed or matched with militarybatteries. The 6TN and or the 6TLbatteries will perform properly in hotweather as long as electrolyte levelsare carefully monitored. If theelectrolyte expands and causes thelevel to rise, some fluid must beremoved. If the level becomes toolow due to evaporation, distilledwater may be used to obtain theproper level. A good grade ofdrinking water (excluding mineralwaters) may be used if distilled wateris not available.Electrolyte (NSNs 68104)0-249-9354and 681040-843-1640) have a specificgravity of 1.280 and should be usedin these batteries.
