Remove battery vent caps and add pure distilled water to battery cells until proper electrolyte level is
reached. If batteries do not have electrolyte level markers, add distilled water until electrolyte level is 3/8 inch above cell
plates.
Warning
If battery electrolyte is spilled on skin or clothing, immediately wash with cold water or a
sodium bicarbonate solution to prevent severe skin burns or damage to clothing.
Caution
Avoid spilling battery electrolyte on painted surfaces. Damage to painted surfaces may result.

Check specific gravity of electrolyte in each battery cell with a hydrometer. Refer to table 2-1 for
hydrometer specific gravity
